SNAP Exam Pattern
SNAP exam pattern has gone with perceptible changes even before it became a computer based test. During the last 3-4 years many changes in SNAP exam pattern have been introduced not only in SNAP structure but also in content. SNAP 2018 exam will be held on December 16, 2018 from 2PM to 4PM in different pattern. The SNAP preparation period now requires a well devised preparation plan as per the changed SNAP 2018 pattern.

However, despite number of changes brought about during last few years in SNAP exam pattern, the basics of the SNAP exam have not changed. SNAP exam pattern except a few changes has remained on the same lines. To make sure to crack SNAP 2018 with high score you need to begin your SNAP exam preparation without waiting any longer.

Candidates appearing in SNAP 2018 exam will find fewer questions to attempt in each section including Non-MCQs and varying scoring pattern. However, the maximum score even for fewer questions will remain the same at 150 marks.

5 Key Changes in SNAP 2018 Exam Pattern
During the last 3 years Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test Pattern has witnessed perceptible changes. In 2015, Number of questions in SNAP were reduced; in 2017 SNAP moved to become online computer based test from a paper based test. However, SNAP 2018  now witnesses the biggest overhaul in the exam pattern. Key Changes are:

Total Questions Reduced to 130
SNAP 2018 has 130 questions instead of earlier 150 questions. However there is no change in the time duration of SNAP 2018 which remains of 2 hours.

20 Non-MCQs Introduced in SNAP 2018
Out of the 130 questions in SNAP 2018 exam, there are 110 MCQs and 20 Non-MCQs equally divided in all the 4 sections. SNAP 2018 has termed them as Normal and Special Questions respectively.

While each MCQs type question will be followed by 4 answer options, the Non-MCQ type question will not have any answer option. The SNAP 2018 test taker will have to type in the correct answer in the given space on the computer screen.

For example, if the special question is – ‘Which is the highest denomination currency note demonetised on November 8, 2016’, the test taker will not find any answer option and will need to write the correct answer ‘Rs.1000’ in the given answer space on computer screen by using the virtual key board which is enabled while attempting the special questions (Non-MCQ type).

SNAP 2018 Sectional Composition
Following will be the sectional composition of questions in SNAP 2018:

SNAP 2018 Syllabus
Once you know about the SNAP Pattern 2018, your next step for SNAP preparation is to scan the SNAP exam Syllabus. In fact, SNAP Exam Syllabus has never had any boundaries and this fact also applies to define the SNAP 2018 exam syllabus.

The SNAP exam syllabus is the outcome of the topics which have earlier appeared in SNAP exam although the type of questions, their composition, format and number may change in each subsequent SNAP exam.

The key point in SNAP exam syllabus 2018 is that there is no repetition of SNAP questions in any SNAP exam although difficulty level of the questions in SNAP exam would not go out of SNAP exam syllabus.

SNAP 2018 exam Syllabus is not pre-defined by Symbiosis International University (SIU) Pune which conducts Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Online Test nor the SNAP syllabus was outlined earlier also by the SNAP exam convening SIU University.

SNAP 2018 exam syllabus is based on the mentioned guidelines and current structure of SNAP exam. Past tendencies reflect that SNAP exam syllabus and pattern overall tests the candidate on General English: Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability; Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency; Analytical & Logical Reasoning and Current Affairs

SNAP exam Syllabus covers all the major topics on these four test sections which are further divided into sub-sections..

No SNAP preparation without SNAP Syllabus
The fact is that you will find it difficult to proceed with SNAP preparation even if you have all the SNAP exam preparation material, unless you know the SNAP exam syllabus. SNAP MBA exam syllabus is much wider than one can anticipate.

SNAP syllabus does not leave any study topic untouched. The glimpses of SNAP syllabus 2018 for MBA admission 2019-21 in Symbiosis Institutes is a testimony to this fact.

If you go through the SNAP exam syllabus, it will help you to decide when to begin SNAP preparation? How to prepare for SNAP 2018? What important topics covered in SNAP syllabus need your focused attention in SNAP preparation.

SNAP Preparation Time
What is the ideal SNAP preparation time that could ensure a high percentile score in SNAP exam? Although there is no thumb rule on it, SNAP toppers suggest the SNAP aspirants to remain steady and regular in their SNAP preparation and always think that SNAP exam is round the corner.

There is still good SNAP preparation time which if fruitfully used, can turn the table in your favour.

How to start SNAP preparation at home?
SNAP preparation should be started at home now without waiting any further. SNAP toppers studying at Symbiosis Pune and SCMHRD advise to start self preparation at home without being dependant on any coaching. SNAP preparation tips to start SNAP preparation at home are:

  • Go through the revised SNAP exam pattern
  • Read thoroughly the SNAP syllabus 2018
  • Pick out your strong and weak areas in all the four sections
  • Gather the best books and preparation material for SNAP preparation
  • Improve on your weak areas and monitor the improvement regularly
  • Take as many SNAP Mocks during your SNAP 2018 preparation and do the analysis of each Mock. Without analysis of Mock, attempting a mock test may not be useful.
  • If you are weak in VARC, reading different articles and novels, conversing in English with friends and even watching English TV series and movies will be helpful.
  • Write down whatever new words you encounter after reading at least 5-6 newspaper articles every day
  • Data Interpretation (DI) is considered a bit more time consuming. Start practicing on DI questions. Use approximation techniques for quick calculations.

How to prepare for SNAP 2018 in 6 months?
SNAP preparation tips for beginners or for the repeaters are not much different? SNAP preparation time of 6 months is sufficient to crack the exam. Following should be adhered to before proceeding on SNAP preparation journey:

  • As you are left with sufficient SNAP preparation time, first of all go through and understand the SNAP exam pattern
  • Get a good feel of SNAP 2018 exam syllabus
  • Find out your strong and weak areas
  • Start building up the fundamentals and get conceptual clarity on the topics which fall in your weak areas
  • Don’t waste too much time on theory. If you have understood the basics, attempt SNAP sectional quiz.
  • Practice after theory is a must. Accordingly take periodical SNAP 2018 Quiz, attempt SNAP previous years Mock test, SNAP previous years question papers
  • Get the best SNAP preparation material with best books for SNAP preparation.
  • Beginning your SNAP preparation early will give you time to periodically assess yourself and overcome your weaknesses.
  • Remain confident right from the day one during your SNAP preparation journey.
  • Self Preparation is the best preparation strategy for SNAP 2018 however time is also an important factor. If a candidate gets stuck on some question due to his/her lack of conceptual clarity, the wastage of time is more and depression begins to set in. It could be a small quant formula, LR logic, or Verbal usage clarity which might need a simple push to come out of the shallow waters. This help can be provided by your mentor online or offline depending upon your preference or a mix of both.

How to prepare for SNAP in 3 months?
SNAP preparation time of three months is not short. What you have done in last three months or whatever you have prepared can be revised now in three months with various SNAP preparation tools. The time is ripe to intensify a little your SNAP preparation strategy for three months:

  • See that you have achieved good clarity on fundamentals and have strengthened your basics
  • Alongwith going through the books for SNAP preparation, visit number of online SNAP preparation material
  • It is time that you started taking SNAP Mock test, analyse your errors and rectify them
  • Instead of reading the theory again and again, now you should attempt the question and when you are stuck, visit the basics and clarify your point to clear the confusion
  • Solve SNAP previous year question papers
  • Join a good Test series for SNAP preparation

How to prepare for SNAP 2018 in 2 months?
It may sound a little surprising but it is true. Many SNAP toppers are of the view that SNAP preparation time of two months is good enough to crack the exam. If you study effectively with right study material, even 2 months are sufficient to score 95 percentile provided you are sincere enough.

  • Focus more on SNAP Exam Quiz, SNAP Mock tests, different types of questions as appeared in SNAP
  • Don’t leave any SNAP Mock Test without analyzing it
  • Go through the Books for SNAP preparation and the SNAP preparation material and ensure  that you have gone through the sectional and overall quiz and practice tests in these SNAP preparation books.
  • There are some strong areas within your weak areas and some weak areas within your strong areas. Try to focus on all the weak areas and see if you are able to improve them. However, you should not waste more time on them. Instead focus more on your strong areas and improve them further.

How to prepare for SNAP without coaching and with self study?
There is no substitute of SNAP preparation with self study which does not require any coaching until and unless you are stuck. Experts therefore, recommend that you should start your SNAP preparation by self study and later make it a mix of self study as well as help from coaching to avoid wastage of time.

  • Most of the candidates coming from Engineering or other technical background find it easy to get along well with Quant, DI and LR but when it comes to Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, they find the section too difficult. It is where they need an expert guidance.
  • SNAP preparation 2018 needs improvement in your speed and accuracy as the time to solve per question is short. You need to solve 130 questions in 120 minutes.
  • SNAP 2018 preparation should equip you with continuous sitting for more than 3 hours without break. To achieve this you are required to take more Mocks, SNAP previous year test papers.
